Cycling season kick-off
On Saturday, I met with a large group of cyclists at Gas Works park for the first weekend of Cascade Training Series rides. I am beginning training for the Seattle to Portland (STP) ride in July.
I intended to catch a bus to Gas Works, but that didn't work out so I rode my bike about ten miles to the park, and then rode with the group to Seward Park and back (about 25 miles), so I logged about 35+ miles by the time I got back to Gas Works.
That's the most mileage I've put in on this bike (I just got it used in the fall), and I felt much better than I expected after ride. I had some time to kill before Kari came to pick me at the park after the ride, so I took some photos around Gas Works. Check out my flickr gallery to see the rest.

IAH train
Now I'm in Houston on the way back to Seattle. This mornings drive from Tallahassee to Jacksonville included monsoons that also delayed the plane from here to JAX, so I'm not getting home when planned, but I am half way there. Dad, allie and Cyndi were rerouted through Chicago, and I'm not sure about Chris yet.

Randy Pausch reprising his inspirational "Last Lecture"
Everyone should watch this inspiring lecture from Carnegie-Melon professor Randy Pausch, who has terminal cancer.
This reprised lecture was delivered on Oprah, but there is a full length version as well.

WHITEFISH day 1
We drove the new road up to Whitefish Mountain (Big Mtn)and had a great day on the snow. I rented som nice Alpine gear from Tammarack, which is right on the road to the mountain.
It was pretty foggy, but the snow was good. I normally snowboard, so it took me a few runs to get used to skis again, but by the time we left I was feeling comfortable.
Hopefully I can go again tomorrow.

Kari walked from Lincoln Park in west Seattle to Seattle on Sunday. I met her on Alki with Langley and she was very happy to see us.
Seattle 3-day final lap
Kari and all her teammates were all decked out in pink today for the final day. Their destination is Memorial Stadium near the Space needle in the background.

Seattle 3-Day, Day 1
Kari walked from Bellevue Community College to Tukwila today. I got to cheer her on towards the end of the 20+ mile walk. She was understandably tired but in good spirits.
